Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh participated in a business breakfast organised by the Japan-Bulgaria Business Association with the support of the Embassy of Japan in Bulgaria and the Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (EAPSME). The meeting was held in the context of Bulgaria's upcoming participation in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka and opened a space for ideas aimed at closer cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism and economy.
Minister Miroslav Borshosh stressed that Bulgaria's participation in the exhibition in Japan is not just an opportunity to present tourist and cultural-historical attractions, but to create a comprehensive narrative about our country – about its identity, spirit and potential. "EXPO 2025 is more than a stage for business – it is a meeting between nations, cultures and visions for the future. For us, it is an opportunity not only to show, but to be told – with emotion, with meaning and with human presence," the Minister said.
He expressed his special gratitude to all the institutions and partners who are working for the realization of the Bulgarian participation, and noted with pride that 60 students studying tourism and Japanese studies will work at the Bulgarian pavilion at the suggestion of the Ministry of Tourism. "They will be our young ambassadors who will gain experience and contribute to creating a vibrant and inspiring vision for Bulgaria," he added, addressing the Japanese Ambassador Hiroshi Michigami.
Bulgaria will participate in the World Expo with a top-class national pavilion – type "A", bearing the name "Bulgaria". It will be positioned in the thematic cluster Saving Lives, part of the global concept of EXPO 2025 – Future Society for Our Lives.
The exhibition will take place from 13 April to 13 October 2025 in the Japanese city of Osaka, Kansai region. The organisation of the Bulgarian participation is being coordinated by the Ministry of Innovation and Growth's IANMSP and the Ministry of Tourism is part of the inter-ministerial working group involved in the preparations.
