“When Does Summer End? You Decide!” is the campaign’s slogan

The Ministry of Tourism has launched “LongSummer” – the first initiative aimed at extending the tourist season on the Southern Black Sea coast and showcasing that the region has much to offer beyond the traditional summer months. The campaign presents the Southern Black Sea as a destination that combines seaside relaxation with museums, cultural and historical landmarks, wine and food tastings, spa weekends, and festivals. The region’s attractions remain accessible and appealing throughout September and October, when conditions for travel and leisure are equally favorable.

The initiative is the result of effective cooperation between the national government and local authorities. A month earlier, during a meeting that brought together the Minister of Tourism, the Regional Governor of Burgas, and the mayors of coastal municipalities, the participants jointly outlined a strategy for promoting tourism in the region under a unified tourism product.

Within the campaign, the emphasis is placed on promoting the advantages of the Southern Black Sea region — the short and convenient distances between resorts, and the possibility for tourists to stay overnight in one city while easily traveling to neighboring destinations for new experiences. The focus is on the rich calendar of events throughout September and October, which serve as a major attraction for both Bulgarian and international visitors.

With this campaign, we show that our sea offers much more than a classic summer holiday — it can be an experience that continues throughout all seasons. This, in turn, stimulates employment in the region and supports the development of local tourism businesses,” said Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh. He emphasized that the campaign’s success is made possible through partnership with local authorities and businesses, who are already working to ensure that tourists can enjoy a variety of services and activities even after the traditional summer peak

The Regional Governor of Burgas, Vladimir Krumov, noted that September is the month when the region truly reveals its potential, and that this feeling should be shared with a wider audience. “On the southern coast, “LongSummer” is already a reality. I thank the Ministry of Tourism for listening to the mayors and helping bring this idea to life. The campaign sends an even stronger message — we are one united region!” said Vladimir Krumov.

With the “LongSummer” initiative, the Ministry of Tourism reaffirms its commitment to enhancing Bulgaria’s tourism product by promoting sustainable development models and turning the Southern Black Sea coast into a year-round destination for culture, nature, and events. The campaign is part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to extend the tourist season, stimulate regional development, and promote Bulgaria as an attractive year-round travel destination.
