World rhythmic gymnastics champion Stiliana Nikolova will take part in the Ministry of Tourism’s initiative to promote Bulgaria to the world. She was presented with a statuette featuring a golden rose by Minister Ilin Dimitrov and accepted the invitation to become an ambassador for Bulgarian tourism, sharing her favorite places and personal messages about our country.
“It is an honour for me, and I am happy to accept this mission. I feel rested, energized, and ready for the next big goal—the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles,” Nikolova said.
The 21-year-old star was accompanied by Iliana Raeva, president of the Bulgarian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation. Minister Dimitrov congratulated Stiliana Nikolova on her outstanding performance at the World Championships in Frankfurt in August.
“I was deeply impressed by the passion with which you step onto the mat. You are a source of great pride for our country, and this achievement is historic—a gold medal in the individual competition after 25 years!” said the Minister of Tourism.
Bulgarian Gymnastics Federation President Iliana Raeva highlighted the immense dedication behind Nikolova’s successes. According to her, Bulgaria has the potential to be recognized around the world precisely through its successful athletes.
“We are an exceptionally talented sporting nation with Olympic champions in over 15 sports. Our country is unique and much loved, and it is important to promote it to the world,” Raeva said.
Stiliana Nikolova was born in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, and in addition to Bulgarian, she speaks English, Arabic, and Russian fluently. She will record video messages intended for a broad international audience, in which she will talk about the beauty of our homeland.
Today, the champion is heading to the “Belmeken” high-altitude training center to continue her training. Stiliana will also take part in the climb up Mount Zabcheto in the Eastern Rila Mountains, from where she will share her experience of one of Bulgaria’s most impressive natural destinations.
The Ministry of Tourism’s campaign already features Bulgarians with international recognition, including the winner of Eurovision 2026, DARA; Oscar-nominated actress Maria Bakalova; Olympic and world weightlifting champion Carlos Nasar, and soccer legend Hristo Stoichkov.
Also joining the initiative are world kickboxing star Stoyan Koprivlenski, Olympic snowboard medalist Tervel Zamfirov, and Olympic biathlon medalist Lora Hristova.
