Ministry of Tourism will support the development of urban tourism in Stara Zagora
Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh held a working meeting with the Mayor of Stara Zagora Zhivko Todorov and representatives of the local authorities. They discussed the potential for tourism development in the region, with a number of projects for the renovation of key sites aimed at the development of cultural and urban tourism and expressed their willingness to continue to actively cooperate to attract more tourists and contribute to the economic development of the city and the region.
The Minister stressed the importance of developing urban tourism, including festivals that reflect the authentic spirit of the city and the region.
"Stara Zagora is a fast growing city in all directions and tourism is a key part of its future. Together we will work closely to develop its tourism potential," said Minister Borsosz.
“Mr. Miroslav Borshosh is the first Minister of Tourism to officially visit our municipality," the Mayor of Stara Zagora stressed and added that with joint efforts solutions will be found to overcome the difficulties in the sector.
Among the issues discussed was the shortage of staff in the tourism sector. Minister Borshosh said he was ready for coordination between the institutions in order to ease the procedures for hiring foreign workers and to support the tourism business in the region and stressed that a working group on tourist and work visas would be formed in the next few days.
The occasion of the visit was also given by the award that the Stara Zagora Museum of Religions received last week at the largest tourism exhibition for the end customer in Europe - SMT Stuttgart. The museum was awarded one of the three major prizes of the International CT AWARD 2024 - Connecting Cultures competition, among competition from 18 countries, in the category "Promoting International Dialogue".
"The high distinction is a proof of the valuable cultural heritage of Stara Zagora and of the city's potential as an attractive tourist destination," said Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh.
After the meeting in the municipality, Minister Miroslav Borshosh visited one of the most significant cultural and historical sites in the city, namely the award-winning Museum of Religions, to personally congratulate the director Petar Kalchev.
