Ministry of Tourism sends Bulgarian students to the World EXPO 2025 in Osaka
Minister Miroslav Borshosh nominated outstanding students with Tourism profile from all universities in Bulgaria
Bulgaria will take part in the World EXPO 2025 with a national stand, which will be staffed by Bulgarian students at the proposal of the Ministry of Tourism. The Bulgarian state will have its own pavilion, of the highest class - type "A", which will bear the name "Bulgaria".
The Ministry of Tourism is part of the interdepartmental task force that takes all decisions on the organization of the Bulgarian participation, which was the occasion for a meeting between Minister Miroslav Borshosh and the Executive Director of the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Agency (BSMEPA) Dr. Boyko Takov.
With an official letter to all universities in the country with majors in tourism and Japanese studies, Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh invited students to submit their applications.
"The Bulgarian state can give our students a unique chance to represent their country at the World Expo in Osaka. We will collect the nominations from the universities of students of Tourism and Japanese Studies from all over the country and will select sixty young Bulgarians to work at the Bulgarian stand during the exhibition for 6 months. This is a long enough period in which the youngest and most experienced Bulgarians can participate on a rotational basis, gaining invaluable experience and practical skills" - Miroslav Borshosh emphasised.
EXPO 2025 is expected to welcome more than 28 million visitors - 90% of them will be Japanese citizens, of whom about 1.5 million will be students, and the remaining 10% of visitors will be from other countries. Bulgaria hopes to welcome a significant number of them in its own pavilion, which will be open to visitors 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 6 months (27 weeks).
The Osaka exhibition this year is held under the motto Future Society for Our Lives, and the sub-theme for the sector in which the Bulgarian pavilion is positioned is Saving Lives. The exhibition is divided into thematic weeks, each of which addresses an important global topic related to sustainable development, technological progress, human well-being and more. The remaining sub-themes for Bulgaria are: Good Health and Well-being; Clean water and Sanitation; Affordable and Clean Energy; Decent Work and Economic Growth; Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; Responsible Consumption and Production.
All participants in the expo have the opportunity to present their best practices and achievements falling within the thematic focus of the respective week. Bulgarian municipalities are also invited to participate with presentations, information events or joint activities with their Japanese sister cities or partners in one of the thematic weeks.
Bulgaria's pavilion is 376 sq. m. in size, located in a 900 sq. m. plot on the newly built island between the pavilions of Singapore and the Netherlands. Its basic concept is aimed at the integration of the past, present and future in a common temporal spatial dimension.
"There is a certain day for Bulgaria, which will be on May 18, 2025, and it also requires a more special programme, which is being worked on specifically," the executive director of the BSMEPA explained during his first working meeting with Minister Miroslav Borshosh.
The main coordinator for our country's participation is the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Agency (BSMEPA) at the Ministry of Innovation and Growth.
